In 1895, Kitashirakawa-no-miya Yoshihisa was one of the Japanese generals appointed to invade Taiwan. In June, he stayed in Keelung. However, he died in Tainan in October. Then, the Japanese built the monument to commemorate his contributions. When Taiwan was ceded to Japan after the Sino-Japanese War Kitashirakawa-no-miya Yoshihisa was one of the Japanese generals appointed to invade Taiwan. After Prince Kitashirakawa-no-miya Yoshihisa took Tainan for one week, Shortly after he landed from Yenliao beach and all the way attacked Keeling and Taipei, he died in Tainan. He died at his home due to malaria. During the Japanese colonial period of 50 years, Prince Yoshihisa was regarded as apotheosis. While Prince Kitashirakawa-no-miya Yoshihisa invaded Taiwan, he stayed in Keelung for a long time. Therefore, there is a monument of Prince Yoshihisa in Keelung. The monument was made of concrete and was not found until recently. The height is about 3 meters.
